National parks in USA are highly addictive. After you’ve been to one, you’ll keep going for more. My journey of national parks began with Smoky Mountains, followed by Glacier National Park. Glacier, though equally magnificent, is often overshadowed by more popular Yellowstone next door. I’m glad we settled on Glacier instead.
In the late summer of 2015, we went for camping in Glacier. Reaching the park was a task in itself. From Chicago we took multiple flights to reach Calgary in Canada. Then we drove all the way across the border, finally reaching the park at the end of the day.
Our campsite was well-equipped with a tent-spot, plenty of water supply, fire pit and a space to park our car. After settling in, we made some delicious pasta for Dinner. Sitting next to campfire we enjoyed our dinner, talked for a while, till it was time for lights off.
Next day we drove to Logan pass. Famed for its alpine meadows, it was undeniably beautiful. We hiked to hidden lake, on our way we ran into few bighorn sheep and small mammals like Marmots and Pikas. It was quite busy and almost felt like a morning rush in the wild.

The year we visited, Glacier had suffered one of the largest wildfire incidences, and large areas of park were completely burnt. However, as we hiked deeper in the valley, we witnessed the true untouched beauty of Glacier.
Landscape here is like nowhere else. Maybe it’s the narrow mountain pass that tricks the eyes, but somehow the chiseled peaks look enormous! Valleys are dotted with wildflowers and small streams cascade throughout the mountains. Once you’ve been here, I bet, you’ll remember this view for a very long time.
- Moose walks in the lake, Many Glacier Hotel sits below the mountain
- Going to the sun road runs from east to west across the park
Following day, we visited Two medicine lake. Very few park visitors, visit this area. And I must say it’s stunning! It feels like it’s still waiting to be discovered. A clear lake with multi-colored pebbles adorns the view of the Sinopah mountain in the distance. It looked even better at the sunrise

One of the perks of being a landscape photographer, is you are forced to go out at times of the best possible light. So regardless of the outcome, you always get the best view!
Later that night, I had one of the craziest experience. Stay tuned for the next blog….
